The Convent Cell – The refuge of the soul
Small, simple, and quiet, the cell in the convent was Padre Pio's home for more than forty years.
Within its austere walls, the saint prayed, suffered, and offered himself up every day for the salvation of souls.
His bed, crucifix, and everyday objects that accompanied his life of devotion remain there.
Upon entering, pilgrims feel as if time has stopped: it is like peering into the heart of a man who turned pain into love.
Santuario di Santa Maria delle Grazie – Where grace touches the soul
The Shrine of Santa Maria delle Grazie was Padre Pio's spiritual heart during his lifetime.
In his simple church, marked by prayer and forgiveness, the saint celebrated the Eucharist, heard confessions, and accompanied thousands of faithful.
The walls still seem to echo his words and retain the scent of his silent faith.
Those who enter feel a living presence, a deep peace, as if the love of God himself still dwells in this place.
Here, grace is not sought: it is received.
Casa Sollievo della Sofferenza – Faith that heals
The Casa Sollievo della Sofferenza, founded by Padre Pio in 1956, is much more than a hospital: it is a work of love incarnate.
Conceived as a place where science and charity embrace, it continues today to be a “cathedral of relief” for thousands of sick people and families.
Every corridor reflects its vision: that pain, accompanied by faith and human tenderness, can be transformed into hope.
Here, medicine heals the body, but love heals the soul.
Upper Basilica – The light that lifts the spirit
The Basilica of San Giovanni Rotondo, designed by architect Renzo Piano, stands as a symbol of modern faith and eternal hope.
Its spacious curved spaces, bathed in natural light, evoke the open arms of Christ welcoming his children.
In its walls and mosaics, the history of salvation is intertwined with the life of Padre Pio, reminding us that holiness also dwells in our time.
There, pilgrims raise their gaze and understand that faith does not belong to the past, but to the present that is given.
Visiting San Giovanni Rotondo is like stepping into a place where faith becomes tangible and the soul finds comfort.
Nestled in the mountains of Monte Gargano, this small village in Puglia preserves the living legacy of Padre Pio of Pietrelcina, the friar who transformed pain into love and suffering into hope.
Here, pilgrims can visit the places where the saint prayed, confessed, and offered his life:
the Basilica of Santa Maria delle Grazie, the convent cell, the majestic Upper Basilica, and the Casa Sollievo della Sofferenza, his greatest charitable work.
Each space exudes silence, tenderness, and divine presence.
San Giovanni Rotondo is not only a pilgrimage destination, but also an experience of inner discovery, a call to look within your heart and rediscover the power of healing love.
Those who arrive with weary souls leave with hearts on fire.
